About 34-0-0

34-0-0 is a free, independent browser game about one impossible idea: a Bundesliga season in which a team wins every single match.

What the game is

You spin a reel that lands on a real Bundesliga club in a real decade, pick one player from that squad, and repeat eleven times until you have a starting XI. Then the game works out what your team would actually do across a full 34-game campaign — and lets you watch it happen, match by match, with a live league table.

It is deliberately small. There is no account to make, nothing to download, no paywall and no tutorial. You can finish a game in under three minutes on a phone, in English or German.

Where it came from

The perfect-season format was popularised by a couple of viral games built around other sports and leagues — one for the NBA, one for the Premier League. German football did not have one, which felt like an oversight for a league with this much history. So 34-0-0 exists to fill that gap: same broad idea, entirely original code, data, design and writing.

The name is the whole pitch. Thirty-four games, thirty-four wins, zero draws, zero losses. Nobody has ever done it. Bayer Leverkusen came the closest anyone ever has in 2024 — unbeaten all season, and still six draws short of perfect. We wrote about why that gap is so enormous if you want the maths.

Where the players come from

The squads are built from a public EA Sports FC / FIFA dataset, filtered down to the German Bundesliga and grouped by club and decade — the 1970s through to the 2020s. That gives more than 800 players across roughly 30 clubs and dozens of club-and-era squads.

The dataset is excellent for the modern game and thin for the historic one, so the genuine icons — Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller, Kahn, Netzer, Matthäus and the rest — are curated upward into a 90+ legend tier. That is an editorial judgement, made openly, and it exists so that landing an all-time great actually feels like landing an all-time great. You can read who made the legend list and why.

How the simulation works

Each match is resolved with a Poisson goal model driven by the gap between your squad's attack, midfield and defence and your opponent's strength, with a small home advantage. Before kick-off, the engine runs a thousand complete eighteen-team league seasons to estimate how often you would finish in each position — then plays one real season out for you to watch.

That is why the odds and your result sometimes disagree. The odds describe what usually happens; the season you watch is what happened this time. Which, if you have followed football for any length of time, will feel familiar.

Independence and honesty

34-0-0 is an unofficial fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Bundesliga, the DFL, or any club or player. All club names are used descriptively to identify real teams; no official badges, kits or licensed imagery are used. Player ratings are approximations and should be read as opinion, not fact.

The game is made by one person, for fun, and costs money to run. It is free and always will be. If you enjoy it, there is a "buy me a coffee" link on the game page, and that is the entire business model.

Contact

Corrections, complaints about a player's rating, bug reports and suggestions are all genuinely welcome at 34.0.0.contact@gmail.com. If you think a legend is missing, say so — several have been added because somebody emailed.
